Last month, federal agents seized the home of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon in relation to allegations that the 77-year-old paid multiple women “hush money” in response to sexual misconduct allegations.
CNBC reported that McMahon was served with a grand jury subpoena on July 17, according to a quarterly Securities and Exchange Commission filing by WWE.
According to the report, McMahon is alleged to have paid four separate women a total of $12 million over the course of 16 years to keep silent about sexual misconduct allegations.
After his resignation a year ago, WWE stated that it would investigate the allegations and cooperate with any external investigations.
McMahon has not been accused of committing a crime. Uncertain as to what federal agents were searching for.
McMahon denied any impropriety in an interview with Deadline Hollywood.
“In 2022, WWE formed a special committee to review allegations of misconduct against me,” he said. “That review was concluded in November 2022 following an extensive investigation.”
He added, “Throughout this experience, I have always denied any intentional wrongdoing and continue to do so. I am confident that the government’s investigation will be resolved without any findings of wrongdoing.”
McMahon also stated that he was recuperating from a recent spine surgery and looked forward to new endeavors.
McMahon resigned as CEO last June, when the allegations were made public.
In a statement on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, McMahon announced that after four decades at the command of the WWE, it was time for him to step down, but he did not address the allegations against him.
“At 77, time for me to retire. Thank you, WWE Universe. Then. Now. Forever. Together,” McMahon tweeted.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is currently on indefinite leave after rejoining the company’s board in January.
The WWE told the outlet, “On July 21, 2023, Mr. McMahon went on medical leave after undergoing major spinal surgery,” the company wrote. “Mr. McMahon will remain on medical leave until further notice but will remain Executive Chairman of the Company.”
McMahon has been in the public eye for decades as a professional wrestling impresario and has also competed in the ring.
He has been outspoken about his friendship with former President Donald Trump in recent years.
Trump, who was targeted by a four-count indictment on Tuesday in relation to his decision to contest the 2020 election results, has appeared at WWE events over the years.
